Overview
International Urban Planning Workshop (IUPW) is an international student workshop organized by the Urban Planning Unit. In collaboration with the hosting school of the Academic Consortium for Sustainable Cities (IACSC) Conference and General Assembly every year, local students, students from IACSC member universities, and students from YCU engage in fieldwork and group work together for about a week. Participants from our university include third-year students from the Faculty of Urban Studies in the School of International Liberal Arts.Through lectures and fieldwork, participants learn about regional conditions and urban challenges and consider solutions. Exchanges of ideas between students from different countries, sharing their respective technologies and practical initiatives, allow for understanding each other's strengths and identifying common challenges. The workshop involves students from diverse fields such as urban planning, architecture, and landscaping, fostering an environment for idea generation based on individuals' expertise and serving as a significant source of inspiration for YCU students. Group work, along with oral presentations and poster sessions at the IACSC symposium, provide opportunities for participants to enhance their English proficiency and engage in communication with students and researchers from overseas.
