Maintaining a healthy mind and body is essential to have a fulfilling student life. Until now, some aspects of your life may have been left up to your parents, but in preparation for your life as a working adult, it is important to learn how to be self-reliant and to care for yourself. To this end, please take full advantage of the following facilities and systems put at your disposal at YCU.

There is always a nurse at the Healthcare Center who can administer first-aid treatment for open wounds or conduct general medical examinations and consultations. Should you wish to see a doctor at a medical institution, you will need your health insurance card, so make sure to always have it on you.

Regular Health Check-Up

In April every year, YCU carries out a general health check-up for students. All students must take the examination every year.

The check-up consists of: height/weight, eye, ear and blood pressure checks, urinalysis, chest x-ray (you may wear a T-shirt), and an examination by a physician.

*Students must collect their test results (1 month after the check-up) from the following places:
  • Hakkei Campus: Healthcare Center
  • Fukuura, Tsurumi, Maioka Campuses: Academic and Curriculum Affairs

*Students who need a health certificate for their job hunting, part-time jobs or other activities may ask for one to be issued. However, same-day delivery of certificates is not possible. Please inquire in advance.

Infectious Diseases

Students who have been diagnosed by a physician with diseases that require quarantine or hospitalization (e.g., influenza, whooping cough, measles, mumps, rubella, chicken pox, tuberculosis) must immediately call the Health Management Center and refrain from coming to school until the attending physician gives the authorization. When it is safe to attend school again, please submit a certificate attesting that you had an infectious disease to the Health Management Center. The certificate can be downloaded from the web page of the Health Management Center.

Important Note About Vaccination

Reports of infections in academic institutions disrupting school and work are frequent. As part of safety measures against infections, YCU requests that all new students submit their vaccination history and receive vaccines for measles, rubella (twice), chicken pox, and mumps.
