The Department of Life and Environmental System Science is centered around the study of genomes, which are the fundamental blueprints of life. By uncovering and teaching about the biomolecular structures and functions of animals, plants, and microorganisms that live in a variety of different environments, the department raises students into individuals who can contribute to solutions to various problems concerning areas such as food, health, and the environment.
