From April 8th, 2020 to May 6th, 2020, students and visitors are prohibited from entering Yokohama City University’s Kanazawa-Hakkei, Tsurumi, Maioka, and Fukuura campuses (excluding hospitals) in response to the government’s declaration of state of emergency.

If you are need to enter any of our campuses during this period, please contact / consult with the relevant departments or sections in advance.
* In principle, university staff will be working from home during this period, so please contact us by e-mail.

Preventing new coronavirus infection

To prevent infection, basic preventive measures such as "frequent hand washing" and "cough etiquette" are effective. Please do the following:

1. Wear a mask in public areas. Wear a mask when using public transportation or visiting public areas, especially people with respiratory symptoms when visiting medical institutions
2. Wash your hands frequently and thoroughly. Wash your hands with soap and running water for 30 seconds, especially the palms and under your fingernails.
3. Observe cough etiquette. When coughing, cover your mouth with your sleeve or elbow.
4. Refrain from touching or rubbing your eyes, nose, and mouth.
5. Inform your travel history to medical staff when visiting health facilities.

Those who are considering overseas travel

1. Reconsider or postpone any non-urgent travel abroad.
2. If you are traveling abroad, please collect information and take safety measures according to the purpose of your travel and stay. Please note that once you enter the country, you may not be able to leave the country due to the suspension of operations of airplanes and ships.
3. Travel warning is in effect for arrival from Japan in some countries. Check for information from your destination country before flying out.
4. Make efforts to prevent infection, such as frequent hand washing and cough etiquette. (Because masks may be difficult to obtain locally, prepare them before traveling.)
5. If you feel sick when returning from overseas, be sure to report this to a quarantine officer at the airport.
6. Refer to the information in the web pages listed below before you travel.

Those who have returned, or are planning to return to Japan from overseas

For those returning from overseas, we recommend a two-week health observation. Please use the following health observation card.
