Welcome

POSMOL2025 is now officially closed. The next POSMOL will take place in Czech Republic in 2027.

POSMOL2025 participants:

Dear colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite you to participate in POSMOL 2025.
The conference will be held in Matsue, Japan, on August 8-10, 2025, starting with the Welcome Reception on Thursday evening August 7, 2025.
The POSMOL will continue this year as a joint meeting of the International Workshop on Low-Energy Positron and Positronium Physics and the International Symposium on Electron-Molecule Collisions and Swarms. It is a satellite meeting of the International Conference on Photonic, Electronic, and Atomic Collisions (ICPEAC 2025) to be held in Sapporo, Japan from July 29 to August 5, 2025.
The POSMOL conference covers a wide range of research topics related to posistron, electron, positronium, and antimatter interactions with particles, atoms, molecules, and complex systems, and related subjects. The meeting will continue the tradition of a scientific forum at which a diverse group of scholars from around the world will have an opportunity to share their theoretical and experimental findings, ideas, innovations, and methodologies through formal and informal discussions to advance scientific knowledge and understanding of the fundamental, collisional interactions. Matsue, the capital of Shimane Prefecture, is a city rich in history, culture, and breathtaking scenery. Known as the "City of Water," Matsue offers visitors a perfect blend of traditional Japan and natural beauty. For the participants of this International Conference and their families, Matsue City will provide a rich experience that will make your stay unforgettable.

Travel

There are two airports (Yonago and Izumo) available to get to Matsue city. Visit HERE for the information how to travel to Matsue. For ICPEAC 2025 participants, it is noted that direct one flight (JAL) a day from Sapporo (ICPEAC) to Izumo is available only on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays in August.

If you are not flying, you can visit from Osaka or Tokyo via Okayama on the Shinkansen and JR lines.

Tokyo sta. → (Shinkansen: Nozomi 3h20min.) → Okayama sta. → (JR Line Ltd. Express Yakumo 2h40min.) → Matsue sta.

Osaka sta. → (JR Line 5min.) → Shin-Osaka → (Shinkansen: Nozomi 50min.) → Okayama sta. → (JR Line Ltd. Express Yakumo 2h40min.) → Matsue sta.

Accommodation

Matsue City is not a very large city, so there are not many hotels. In addition, it is difficult to make reservations because the Inter-High School Sports Festival, a sporting event for high school students, is held during the same period. Early reservations are recommended. The JTB reservation site below is convenient.

History

The POSMOL meeting consists of two research areas in quantum physics and was first held in Campinas, Brazil. It is a combination of two workshops:

  • Low-Energy Positron and Positronium Physics (the POS)
  • Electron-Molecule Collisions and Swarms (and the MOL)

POSMOL is a satellite meeting of the ICPEAC conference (ICPEAC 2025 will be held in Sapporo, Japan). This page presents a brief history of the combined meetings as well as each individual workshop before that.
