Plasmodium falciparum protein kinase (PFPK) (EC 2.7.1.37) is encoded
by the PfCPK gene. Residues 56-325 encode a region homologous to
CDPK, a protein kinase from plant, with which it shares ~40% sequence
identity [62]. The two chimeric kinases probably acquired their
respective four EF-hands by different duplication and splicing events.
