Mission

The mission of the Public Health Unit of GCI is to provide health care services to people in need beyond boundaries. Prolonged communications with Asian and domestic institutes are our main responsibility to reinforce international partnership. For example, lonely life and solitary death of elderlies are of growing concern in Japan and some Asian countries. Discussion on this issue in the Annual meeting could develop collaborations between academics and city authorities.

Besides Asian countries, collaboration with an African institute on malaria epidemiology study was started. A student from the Republic of Zambia had completed the public health master degree program of Yokohama City University (YCU) successfully in 2012. Lasting communication after graduation allowed us to pay a visit University of Zambia in Lusaka to make a presentation and discussion about further collaboration. We also have programs to provide YCU students opportunities of going abroad to study the global public health issues.
