Advancing knowledge and solving global issues
Established in April 2011, the Global Cooperation Institute for Sustainable Cities (GCI) pursues its goal of addressing urban problems in partnerships with international organizations and academic institutions mainly located in Asia. It serves as the secretariat of the International Academic Consortium for Sustainable Cities (IACSC), an academic network created in 2009 under the initiative of Yokohama City University. The GCI tries to tackle global urban agendas through research activities in the following three areas; Environment, Urban Planning, and Public Health. The GCI also promotes student exchange activities with other IACSC member institutions.
