  • Dec 6-8, 2023: Jordan and Sakura attended the 46th Annual Meeting of the Molecular Biology Society of Japan (MBSJ2023 Conference) in Kobe and presented their work on lncRNAs in dendritic cell differentiation.

  • Oct 18-20, 2023: Tomohiko was an Invited Speakers for the European Macrophage and Dendritic Cell Society (EMDS) Conference in Ghent, Belgium
    EMDS@VIB2023 meeting focused on multiple aspects of Dendritic cell and Macrophage biology in health and disease. Invited speakers are at the forefront of the mononuclear phagocyte field and provided the audience with many exciting discoveries.

  • Oct 11-13, 2023: Jordan was an Invited Lecturer and Instructor for RIKEN-KI Doctoral Course

    Researcher from the National University of Singapore (NUS), Central Institute for Experimental Animals (CIEA), Yokohama City University (YCU) and Kanagawa Cancer Center (KCC) presented their work on Advances in Cancer Research in Singapore: https://csi.nus.edu.sg/nus-kanagawa/

  • Apr 01, 2023: Sakura Eri MAEZONO joins us as Bioinformatics Assistant Professor
    Dr Maezono graduated with a PhD in Human Biology from Tsukuba University (Japan). She joined us from Craif Inc., where she was primarily developing bioinformatics & ML algorithms for early cancer detection. Sakura is skilled in Big Data Analytics with extensive experience in analyzing NGS and clinical data, and likes to create interactive data analysis web-tools. In YCU, Dr Maezono will be responsible for expanding our collaborative clinical research and will contribute to helping with our Bioinformatics Education .

  • Sep 16, 2022: Our collaborative pancreatic cancer grant was approved by AMED
    The grant (2022-2025) is lead by Prof. Tomohiko Tamura and his Immunology Lab and will be carried out in collaboration with our BI Lab and other YCU and external researchers. Our main focus are macrophage cells and uncovering how selected transcription factors and their targets control the cancer landscape. Congratulations Tamura-sensei and All involved!

    this award is a well-deserved recognition of Prof. Tamura’s various roles and activities at the YCU Joint Research Center and at the AMRC. It also highlights his work as Dean of YCU Medical Graduate School, Director of the Epigenome Research Center as well as his research achievements.

    Karen has just completed her first undergraduate year in the Department of Medicinal and Biological Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh. She will be with us for 10 weeks mainly learning basics of R programming and trying to apply it to single cell data analysis.

  • Apr 01, 2021: Fumitaka UEMATSU joins us as Undergraduate Project Researcher
    Fumitaka is joining our BI Lab as the final year undergraduate project researcher from the Department of Biological Sciences at the Kitasato University (北里大学理学部生物科学科所属). He will be with us for one year learning R programming, practical bioinformatics and helping on our COVID-19 project.

  • Feb 19, 2021: New Large Memory Server was installed onsite
    our computational infrastructure has just gotten a huge boost by installing another Large Memory Server: AMD EPYC 7742 (128 CPU Threads, 2TB RAM, 156TB HDD). Thank you Nabe International !
    We are looking forward to using our new server!

  • Feb 18, 2021: our paper on Irf8 and its enhancers driving myelopoiesis is out in Nat Immunol
    this work is important in understanding how expression levels of IRF8 transcription factor can control cell type specification within the myeloid lineage and highlights the underlying mechanism.

  • Aug 01, 2020: Jordan RAMILOWSKI joins us as Bioinformatics Associate Professor
    Dr Ramilowski graduated with a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Utah State University (US) and then briefly worked as a Bioinformatics Analyst at a biotech company in San Francisco. In 2011, Jordan moved to RIKEN Yokohama Institute (Japan) where he spent 9 years working as a Bioinformatics Researcher mainly focusing on understanding roles of long non-coding RNAs in gene regulation. In YCU, Dr Ramilowski will be responsible for helping with various activities of our Advanced Medical Research Center, globalization, collaborative research and for growing our Bioinformatics Education .
