Caltractin (CDC)
entry list
alignment
Caltractin (CDC) was initially cloned from the unicellular green
alga, Chlamydomonas. It is a structural component of the basal body
complex, the major microtubule organizing center in Chlamydomonas and
the functional homolog of the centrosome in the animal cell. The CDC31
gene product, a yeast homolog of caltractin, interacts with the KAR1
product. KAR1 encodes an essential component of the yeast spindle pole
body that is required for karyogamy and duplication of the spindle pole
body [14].
